Nip, Tuck and a Dash of Botox
It was about time this site got a facelift. I hope you like the new look.
Luc – aka ldad – created the layout and colours and I turned them into functional reality. (If you like it and you want something for yourself, we can hook you up – just drop me an email). Thanks a ton Luc, I think it looks sweet!
Please let me know what you think and give me a head’s up if you notice anything that doesn’t work or look right (you may notice issues particularly if you use the unreliable and insecure Internet Explorer instead of the magnificent Firefox).
Enjoy.

One irritating issue I have is that when I transferred the database over to this new server it screwed up all the encoding on the characters (this comment is for techies/geeks, disregard it if you do not fit in this category). So now all my old posts are full of question marks everywhere (any non-ASCII character like wrapped quotation marks, long dashes, etc. are now shown as question marks.) If anyone has any clever ideas for how to fix this for hundreds of posts at once, let me know.

I’ve received a report from an IE user (not sure which version) that the header image does not extend all of the way across the top – that it stops part of the way across the top of the blog. If you’re having that same issue, please let me know which version of IE you are using.
Come to think of it, it could be because of a higher screen resolution, which I haven’t tested out yet.

Yep, that’s the issue, I’ll fix it for you folks who run at higher than 1024 width resolution.

I noticed the same thing in Firefox, maximized on my 1280×1024 monitor.

I like the new layout, very cool colour scheme as well!

The colour scheme is a little powdery for me – like a bottle of Rolaids.

Put on a pair of dark aviator sunglasses whenever you come to the site and you should be fine.

I kinda agree with alevo, not sure how I feel about the white background…

I really like the new layout and colours. The main page somehow seems a little bit easier to read and all the different aspects of the site jump out at me a little more. Good stuff Ade!!

Darken the back ground – a darker taupe would be easier on my eyes.

It’s funny how the gradient at the top and the bottom gives the illusion that the background is an off-white colour, but in fact, the background is completely white. The taupe gradient background is only about two inches wide, top and bottom.
As far as your suggestion goes, I’m going to have to defer to Luc, who created the look for the site. Colour is not my strong point.
